Interim Finance Manager | Kent | £300-£350/day or C.£60k FTC

An urgent requirement for an interim accountant has arisen for a large, fast paced business in Mid Kent. You must be able to start work on or before the beginning of January 2020:

Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role suits a traditional financial accountant used to the demands of a fast paced corporate business. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience of successful month end close to tight deadlines and including identifying and implementing process and control improvements. Controlling the balance sheet with fully supported reconciliations is essential to ensure strong controlled business growth. The role coordinates the timely and satisfactory internal and external audit and has 4 direct reports.

Key activities:
• Divisional month end close to tight Group deadlines. Including posting/authorising of journals into the general ledger system
• Responsible for day to day managing bank payments out of the organisation in accordance with bank mandates and internal controls. This includes ensuring accounts are funded appropriately to meet the demands of the business.
• Management, motivation and development of a part qualified student and three transactional cash operations staff
• Statutory accounts preparation including IFRS interpretation and notes through to board signing for multiple legal entities
• Monthly balance sheet reconciliations and reporting pack to Financial Controller
• Review of weekly bank reconciliations to ensure that reconciling items are cleared in a timely manner
• Fully documented procedures in order to adhere with key controls including excellent version control and lock down of spreadsheets
• Developing key relationships with Intra group counterparts, Internal and external auditors including regular process improvement meetings
• Maintain files and working papers to support the periodic audit requirements of external audits and reviews

Skills and experience:
• Qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA or ACCA) with at least 2 years post qualification experience
• Technical accounting bias, up to date with latest IFRS accounting
• High Excel literacy to advanced formula level
• Experience managing transactional staff
• Highly analytical with a good eye for detail
• Ability to develop current processes, identify and implement improvements
• Experience of working in a fast paced working environment
• Be a confident communicator to director level
