Hays is delighted to be partnering with a leading organisation in the energy sector, to recruit an Assistant Management Accountant for their busy finance team. You will be joining a real leader in the industry, responsible for providing energy to almost 20 million people in South East England. You will be joining the commercial arm of the business, with a focus on renewable energy and sustainability. Your new role

You will be joining a busy team of 6, to assist with management reporting, month-end and profit analysis. The role will be interacting with multiple financial and non-financial stakeholders across the group, while managing large datasets. Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

* Helping produce monthly management accounts that are clear & insightful and lead to improvements in operational and financial performance.
* Producing insightful variance analysis, and working with the business to improve efficiency.
* Participating in the preparation of Budgets, Medium Term Plans and Forecasts
* Producing, analysing, and reporting both daily and ad-hoc data to provide the insight needed for commercial decisions.
* Assist the team in identifying opportunities and areas for attention, and recommending options for action - including areas of cost reduction, best practice governance and controls and excellent strategic prioritisation of expenses across the group.

What you\'ll need to succeed

You will be a part-qualified accountant (ACCA/ CIMA/ equivalent) with experience in a busy finance team including journals, accruals and prepayments. You will be articulate and able to communicate financial concepts with stakeholders at all levels. There is a large quantity of data in this role, so you\'ll need strong IT skills to manipulate it, including Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables). You\'ll be ambitious and looking to progress. This will be supported and encouraged. You will have the right to work in the UK, and a plan to reliably commute to Crawley 3 days per week.

What you\'ll get in return

You will receive a salary of up to £29,000 depending on experience, with a bonus of 7.5%. There is a strong annual leave entitlement, and a generous pension contribution by the company. There is hybrid working available after probation, and cycle to work/ season ticket schemes. The company are certified for their investment in people, with a reputation for upskilling and promoting from within. To support this, there is also a study support plan after probation.
